A Continuous Approach Beyond the Annual Review Process

At Amelio, we believe that people development should not depend on a single major moment once a year.

Work realities evolve too quickly: projects shift, responsibilities change, teams transform, and employee needs become clearer over time.

That’s why self-assessments and 360 feedback are designed as ongoing tools that can be used throughout the year to support conversations that are more thoughtful, more human, and more useful.

The limits of the annual exercise

An annual exercise can absolutely have its place. It helps create space for reflection, review key moments, and structure important discussions. However, when used on its own, it also comes with limitations.

⚠️ What can happen when the approach is too occasional:

  • Recent events tend to overshadow everything else;

  • Less visible efforts may go unnoticed;

  • Progress made earlier in the year can be forgotten;

  • Frustrations build up before being addressed;

  • Conversations become heavier because they happen too late.

The Amelio approach aims for something different: building a culture where feedback, reflection, and development become natural habits.

The benefits of the Amelio approach

The Amelio approach helps organizations:

  • Recognize strengths when they are happening;

  • Identify support needs earlier;

  • Broaden the manager’s perspective;

  • Help employees better understand what supports or slows them down;

  • Transform performance discussions into growth conversations;

  • Make follow-ups more concrete by connecting them to situations that are still current.

Our intention is not to make the process more complex, but rather to create meaningful opportunities that help conversations grow naturally. 🌱
