How not to allow employee to skip a question

This article provides instructions on how to make questions mandatory and prevent employees from skipping them in Amelio surveys.

Updated over a year ago

By default, all questions throughout the Amelio surveys can be skipped by the employee with the option 'This question does not apply to me' indicated at the bottom right of each question.

It is possible through your survey questionnaires to target certain questions to make them mandatory and thus remove the option to skip them.

Potential uses of mandatory questions

  1. Questions for which it is essential to have everyone's opinion. For example, specialized questions on the eNPS score, intentions to leave, or employee priorities.

  2. Important questions for which all employees will certainly be able to answer, regardless of their position or seniority, for example.

We advise against using this feature systematically due to the following potential risks:

  1. The employee may give forced answers and therefore bias the results.

  2. The employee may abandon the survey, faced with too many questions to which he or she has no answers and thus be discouraged from continuing the survey.

Exceptional Cases

This feature can be applied to all questions except for the Text type, which means open questions that must be handwritten.

Making such a question mandatory could result in the risks mentioned above, as well as the risk of polluting your comments with phrases like 'I don't know' or 'Nothing to add'.

How to make a question mandatory

  1. Go to the Surveys tab from the left-hand menu of the platform.

  2. Click on the title of the survey to which you want to make changes.

  3. Go to the Questionnaire tab.

  4. Click on the question you want to make mandatory.

  5. Check the option Do not allow the employee to skip this question.

  6. Click on Save Question.
