Why didn't my survey results update after I changed an employee's profile?

Changed an employee's profile but your survey results didn't change? Learn why previous survey results remain unchanged and how to correct demographic data when needed.

If you modify an employee's department, manager, or any other attribute, the results of surveys that have already been completed will not change.

These changes will apply to future surveys only.

If you need to correct the results of a survey that has already been launched because an error was made in your employee list, use the Update Demographic Attributes feature.

Why don't the results change?

Amelio is designed to preserve the history of demographic attributes to ensure consistent and meaningful trend analysis. For this reason, demographic attributes are stored as they were at the time a survey was completed.

For example, if an employee changes departments after completing a survey, their previous responses remain associated with their former department. Those responses reflect the work environment and manager the employee had at the time they answered the survey.

Because of this, their previous responses should not be reassigned to their new team. Doing so would create inaccurate analyses since the work environment, colleagues, manager, and team dynamics are different.

For this reason, changes made to an employee's profile apply to future surveys only.

Correct an error in survey results (Update Demographic Attributes)

Tip: We recommend contacting our Support team before using this feature. We can confirm whether it is the best approach for your situation.

If demographic attributes were already incorrect when the survey was launched, you can update the survey results using the Update Demographic Attributes feature.

This feature replaces the demographic attributes stored in the survey results at the time of completion with the attributes currently saved in each employee's profile.

To access this feature:

Administration → Manage Employees → Update Employees

Before using this feature

Warning: Updating demographic attributes is permanent. Once the demographic attributes have been updated in a survey's results, it is not possible to restore the previous data.

For recurring surveys

Before updating all occurrences of a recurring survey, make sure this operation will not overwrite legitimate team changes that reflect your organization's evolution over time.

If employees have changed departments over time, updating demographic attributes will also reassign their historical survey results to their current department.

In this situation, it may be preferable to update only specific survey occurrences.

Note: It is not possible to update demographic attributes for individual employees. The update applies to one or more survey occurrences.

Case Study

A survey has been launched, and you are in the process of analyzing the results.

When you open the Segments report, you notice that the Sales department should only have 20 employees, but you see 26 in the report:

This means that 6 people were assigned to it by mistake.
